Nice snap up Nicolas Pepe on loan from Arsenal

Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has joined Ligue 1 side Nice on a season-long loan, although no option to buy has been included in the deal.

The Ivory Coast international, who cost Arsenal a club-record £72million from Lille, returns to the French league having also played for Orleans and Angers.

Pepe joined Arsenal in 2019 and went on to make 111 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 27 goals and winning the FA Cup in 2020.

"Everyone at Arsenal wishes Nico well in France with Nice next season," the Premier League club said on their website.

Pepe had not played in any of Arsenal's opening Premier League matches this season, and failed to establish himself in Mikel Arteta's plans. His contract at the club runs until 2024.

He was introduced to Nice supporters before their Europa Conference League game against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Thursday evening.
