Next Southampton manager betting odds: Will Still hot favourite to take Saints job as Danny Rohl interest cools

Reims manager Will Still during the Ligue 1 match against Monaco - March 2023
Southampton are on the hunt for a new manager after parting ways with Ivan Juric, who failed to prevent their inevitable relegation from the Premier League.
The 49-year-old lasted just 16 games at St Mary’s, leading his team to a measly two wins – not enough to keep the club in the elite.
The Saints are now planning a future back in the Championship and they will be doing so with a new man in the dugout. The only question is who will be tasked with getting the south-coast club back into the Prem.
Here, we take a look at some of the leading candidates for the job.
Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Will Still - 1/3
Current Lens head coach Will Still is no surprise to a next manager list, especially as he's a rare breed of English manager working in Europe.
He was brought up in Belgium and has managed Lierse, Beerscjot and French side Reims, where he made his name.

He set a Ligue 1 record after an ubeaten run of 17 games with Reims and led the club to an 11th-place finish.
Still joined Lens in June 2024 and helped them to an eighth-place finish in Ligue 1, but announced he would be leaving the club to be closer to his family in the UK.
He joined this market at 8/1 but after reports that he was deep in talks with the Southampton top brass and after leaving Lee top brass his odds have tumbled to 1/3.
Danny Rohl - 4/1
Current Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl was favourite for the job as soon as Juric left the club.
The club made an approach for the manager following the sacking of Russell Martin last December, but they couldn’t agree compensation to complete the move.
The relationship between Rohl and Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has since been rather strained – something not helped by the club’s recent financial worries.
Rohl has a contract with the Owls until 2027 but with reports he wants to manage in the top flight his odds dropped from 4/6 to 4/1.
Gary O’Neil - 12/1
Gary O’Neil was a 20/1 outsider when Juric was sacked, but he steadily climbed the market.
He has been out of work since being sacked by Wolves back in December, but enjoyed a strong first season with the club, taking them to a 14th placed finish and the FA Cup quarter-final.
O’Neil received a lot of praise considering the club had just lost a number of key players before his arrival.
His second season with the club was a disaster. The 41-year-old was sacked in December, leaving the Wolves in 19th place and four points from safety.
O'Neil was as high as 11/2, but is now down at 12/1.
Liam Manning - 16/1
The Bristol City manager has done a great job this season getting the Robins into the play-offs for the first-time in 17 years.
Doing things like this makes bookies panic, as they know some lazy chairman just look at list of clubs doing well and then just go and grab the manager. Or three games if you are Leicester.
On paper Southampton are a bigger club, and Bristol City crashed out of the play-offs, so maybe Manning's head can be turned.
Marti Cifuentes - 16/1
Marti Cifuentes is currently on gardening leave from QPR reportedly in talks with Southampton and West Brom to become their next manager.
Although odds of 12/1, and then 16/1, haven't got the bookies spooked by these rumours.
There's some turmoil behind the scenes at QPR and Cifuentes has been looking for a quick exit, with several vacant jobs in the Championship he could be lining up some interviews very soon, but maybe not on the south coast.
Steve Cooper – 20/1
Steve Cooper has been out of management since being sacked by Leicester City. Since then, the pair have gone in completely opposite directions.
While Leicester were relegated, Cooper has landed a technical observer role with UEFA – a job which consists of going out to European matches and selecting the ‘Player of the Match’… sounds like heaven.
Despite the ease of his latest role, Cooper will undoubtedly fancy a return to management at some point and Southampton does sound like his cup of tea.
The 45-year-old led England U17s to a World Cup win and also transformed Nottingham Forest. In fact, a lot of their current success can be traced back to the Welshman who took them from the bottom of the Championship to the Premier League.
Simon Rusk – 20/1
For the second time this season, Simon Rusk has been tasked with taking over Southampton as the interim boss.
Rusk oversaw two games last December following the sacking of Russell Martin, picking up a draw and suffering a loss in that time.
With Southampton now officially relegated, the club don’t have to rush when it comes to finding a replacement. That could give Rusk an opportunity to show what he’s capable of in the big boy seat.
Rob Edwards - 20/1
Former Forest Green, Watford and Luton boss Rob Edwards appears to enjoy a rollercoaster.
He took Forest Green Rovers to League One for the first time in their history, then joined Watford which lasted just four months.
To throw the cat amongst the pigeons, Edwards joined Watford's bitter rivals two months later and guided them to the Premier League via the playoffs.
After one season in the top flight, Luton were relegated and then tanked further in the Championship which cost Edwards his job in January this year.
Edwards did all of that in less than four years...phew.
Think he's ready for Southampton?
Liam Rosenior - 22/1
There aren’t many English managers that have gone abroad and enjoyed much success. Liam Rosenior could be one of the very few that does.
The former Derby County and Hull City boss is currently the manager of Strasbourg and is enjoying an unbelievable season.
Strasbourg finished seventh in Ligue 1 and missed out on European qualification due to a last minute penalty.
He's started to slide down the market now, and is at 22/1.
Kasper Hjulmand – 33/1
Former Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand has slipped further down the market having once been third favourite with the bookmakers.
The 52-year-old was in charge of the national side for four years, with his biggest accomplishment being a semi-final run at the 2020 European Championships.
Hjulmand’s club history isn’t overly impressive, having worked with Lyngby, Nordsjaelland and Mainz.
Nevertheless, the Southampton job would undoubtedly give him an opportunity of a lifetime to underline his managerial credentials.
