Next Arsenal manager betting odds: Is the sack looming for Mikel Arteta?

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta
Another season without a trophy and the heat has been turned up on Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. Here we look at some of the big name managers who could be in line to take his job if he gets the sack.
A week ago Arsenal were still in with a shout of some Champions League glory, but now after being dumped out the competition by PSG all they have left is a battle for a Premier League runners-up spot.
Newcastle are breathing down their neck in the table and Arteta was fuming with Arsenal's 'unacceptable' first half performance against champions Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Now Sky pundit Jamie Carragher has predicted that Arteta could be looking at the sack if he goes another season without some silverware to polish.
"This season felt like it should have been their season. There’s no doubt next season that the pressure will be on Mikel Arteta massively in terms of winning something and winning something big," Carragher said.
"The Arsenal board, if they don’t do that [win a major trophy] will have a massive issue because they won’t want to change their manager, but there will be that many people saying: five or six years without a trophy.
"They will be looking at how many managers can make that next step."
This kind of chat always sparks bookies into life and lists of those managers who could take Arsenal to the next step have already been drawn up.
Here we take a look at some of the runners and riders for Arsenal job if it becomes vacant in the near future.

Simone Inzaghi (Inter Milan) - 6/1
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi was installed as the favourite for the Arsenal job after taking his side to the Champions League final after the amazing semi-final win over Barcelona.
Rumours emerged from Italian media that Inzaghi was on a shortlist for the Arsenal job, if the club pulled the trigger on Arteta or decided against renewing Arteta’s contract at the end of 2027.
Inzaghi’s contract at Inter comes to an end in 2026, but the club will want to pin down their manager for longer than that, especially if he leads the club to the Champions League trophy.
The 49-year-old has already won the Serie A with Inter Milan, plus several Coppa Italias with them and his previous club Lazio.
Inter Milan are also still in the mix for the 2024/25 title alongside Napoli.
Massimiliano Allegri (no club) - 6/1
Another proven winner is Massimiliano Allegri who is currently without a club after leaving Juventus in the summer.
Tottenham were reportedly sniffing around Allegri earlier in the season, but their interest has cooled.
Allegri has won the Serie A five times with Juventus and once with AC Milan, plus multiple Coppa Italias and two Champions League runners’ up medals.
With that kind of pedigree Allegri is unlikely to come cheap, which has probably put Tottenham off.
Antonio Conte (Napoli) - 8/1
As a player and a manager Conte's trophy cabinet is bursting.
Three Serie A’s as Juventus’ boss, one at Inter Milan and a Premier League with Chelsea and on the verge of another with Napoli.
That short unsuccessful spell at Tottenham was just a terrible blip he’s probably forgotten about already.
Whether the Awkward One will want another swing at the Premier League after being given the boot by Arsenal’s north London rivals is another matter.
But he may see it as sweet revenge to rub an Arsenal Premier League title in Tottenham's face.
Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid) - 10/1
Whenever a big European club has a managerial vacancy Simeone’s name is added to the bookies' list.
The Argentinian has been in charge at the Spanish giants since December 2011, surely if he was going to leave he’d have done it by now.
Despite the fairly short price, leaving Atletico for Arsenal seems highly unlikely.
Andoni Iraola (Bournemouth) - 12/1
Another manager who has been catching the eye of rivals Tottenham, he’s one of the favourites to take Ange Postecoglou’s job if he gets the bullet.
Two seasons ago most Tottenham and Arsenal fans hadn't even heard of Andoni Iraola, now he’s a front runner to take the helm at both clubs.
You've got to feel sorry for Bournemouth fans, bigger clubs will always pick their most juicy cherries from the tree.
Bournemouth's season has gone off the boil in the final months of the season, so he might slide down both markets.
Unai Emery (Aston Villa) -12/1
Come on now, surely not.
Unless the Villa boss has some unfinished business at the Emirates then returning to a club where he struggled and only managed to finish fifth in the table is probably a non-starter.
Others contenders for Arsenal manager job
Xavi Hernandez - 12/1
Marco Silva - 12/1
Zinedine Zidane - 12/1
Carlo Ancelotti - 14/1
Edin Terzic - 14/1

Patrick Viera - 14/1
Nuno Espirito Santo - 16/1
Thomas Frank - 16/1
Kieran McKenna - 20/1
