Marcus Rashford next club: Barcelona, Inter Milan, Aston Villa and PSG among favourites to sign Man Utd outcast

Marcus Rashford in action for Aston Villa
The future of Marcus Rashford is a topic that is likely to dominate this summer’s transfer window. Here, we take a closer look at his potential destinations.
After being frozen out by Man United manager Ruben Amorim, the 27-year-old moved to Aston Villa last February on a short loan. It’s a deal that includes a £40m option-to-buy clause.
Rashford’s short stay at Villa Park had a bittersweet ending as the forward picked up a hamstring injury which ruled him out for the final month of action.
Being a regular starter and returning to the Champions League undoubtedly made his loan spell with Villa worthwhile, however it is unknown whether a long-term option with the club could materialise.
Rashford has been a good asset for Villa during this loan period, but the forward does come with a hefty wage bill should the club consider a long-term deal.
The summer window comes with a number of exciting possibilities for Rashford, including interest from outside of the Premier League. Another season at United also cannot be dismissed.
Here, we examine Rashford’s possibilities and reveal the latest odds from the bookmakers concerning his next destination.
(Odds are correct as of article's last update)
Barcelona – 4/6 (Fav)
No surprise to see Barcelona at the top of the list. Rashford flirted with a possible move to Catalonia last January though both parties were unable to get the deal done.
Barca has all the things that a player of Rashford’s calibre desires. They are competitive in the Champions League, they are the top dogs in domestic competitions, and they are a big, prestigious European brand.

There is, of course, one big problem. Barcelona aren’t exactly strapped with cash nowadays, and Rashford comes with an eye-watering wage bill.
The Spaniards are known for coming up with clever solutions to financial obstacles, but £325,000 a week is a little bit more than your normal obstacle.
Two things would need to materialise in order for this move to progress. Either Rashford lowers his wage demands – and why would he do that when he is guaranteed £325k a week until the summer of 2028.
Alternatively, United could agree a deal where they would cover a portion of his wage. Not ideal, but at the very least it would put an end to this ongoing drama.
When it comes to that second option, there is something we need to keep in mind. Co-owner Jim Ratcliffe is tighter with his cash than Rachel Reeves and doesn’t seem like the kind of character to pay wages for another club's player.
Any Saudi Arabian team - 7/2
The generic 'any Saudi team' covers all bases for the bookies, especially as most teams in the Pro League have pots of money and are likely to make an approach at any time.
Rashford has already reportedly rejected three lucrative offers to move to Saudi Arabia, but I doubt that will put them off trying again.
Inter Milan - 7/1
The Italian giants emerged as potential suitor to Rashford as the season drew to a close.
However, losing the Champions League and then their manager Simone Inzaghi to Saudi Arabia has muddied the waters somewhat.
New Inter boss Cristian Chivu hasn't got his feet under the table yet, and sorting out Rashford's signing, if he even want him, will be down his priority list.
Man Utd – 10/1
What is the worst-case scenario for Rashford if he can’t seal a deal with another club? Well, it simply means he goes back to Manchester and collects £325k every week whether he plays or not.
With the forward contracted to Old Trafford until the summer of 2028, the onus is on the Red Devils to secure Rashford’s exit.
There is always the chance that Rashford and manager Ruben Amorim could patch things up before the start of the new season.
PSG – 12/1
Recent reports have revealed that PSG were in talks with Manchester United about the potential signing of Rashford.
While Ligue 1 is far from the competitive environment of the Premier League, the Parisians are now Champions League winners and playing for them is almost a trophy-winning cheat code.
What’s more, PSG are one of the few clubs on this list that could afford Rashford’s transfer fee and wage. The real question is whether the Englishman fancies himself across the channel?
Aston Villa – 25/1
Aston Villa missed out on Champions League qualification and that saw odds tumble from 6/1 into the 20s.
Rashford marked his Champions League return with Villa earlier this season and arguably had his best performance for the club in the quarter-final second leg against PSG.
Manager Unai Emery did cause a bit of friction in the team with the signing of Rashford. The club initially turned down a £60m bid for Ollie Watkins from Arsenal, before benching the England international in favour of the Man United man.
Should Watkins depart in the summer, Villa may be a tad more desperate to get their hands on Rashford. Then again, the £325,000 weekly wage can seem off putting for a club like Villa.
Arsenal – 33/1
One thing we have learned about Arsenal is that they need a lot more fire power up front if they are to challenge for any serious silverware next season.
The Gunners came hopelessly short of Liverpool in the title race this term and failed to make a significant dent in any of their remaining competitions.
Recent reports revealed that Mikel Arteta’s men opted against signing Rashford during the winter window, setting their sights on two other targets instead.
Arsenal failed to land those targets and could have another go at Rashford in the summer.
