Manuel Neuer hails Bayern Munich's discipline in Champions League win over Arsenal

The German giants prevailed over Arsenal with a 1-0 victory on Wednesday, clinching a 3-2 aggregate win.

Reflecting on the triumph, Neuer expressed his satisfaction, stating, "It feels good. We put in a very good performance," in an interview with DAZN. 

He emphasized the significance of their disciplined approach, asserting, "We gave them very little. That discipline was the deciding factor today."

Acknowledging the electric atmosphere at the Allianz Arena, the Bayern captain appreciated the unwavering support of the fans, remarking, "These are special games, special nights at the Allianz Arena. We really needed the fans tonight, and they were there."

Neuer's exceptional performance not only contributed to Bayern's victory but also solidified his standing in football history. 

With an impressive 58 clean sheets out of 138 Champions League appearances, the 38-year-old Neuer now holds the record for the most clean sheets by a goalkeeper in the competition's history.

Surpassing legendary figures such as Petr Cech, Gianluigi Buffon, Iker Casillas and Edwin van der Sar, Neuer's feat underscores his dominance in the sport. 

Remarkably, he stands as the only active goalkeeper among the top five record holders, suggesting the potential to further extend his lead and solidify his legacy.

Looking ahead, contenders like Jan Oblak and Marc-André ter Stegen trail behind with 35 and 32 clean sheets respectively, posing as potential challengers to Neuer's record in the future.
