Manchester United strengthen WSL title bid with signings of Estelle Cascarino and Jayde Riviere

Manchester United have signed French international Estelle Cascarino and Canadian defender Jayde Riviere.

Riviere joins the club on a deal running to the summer of 2025.

The 21-year-old, who was with AFC Ann Arbor during the 2022 USL W League season, has played 36 times for her country and was part of the squad that won gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
Riviere said: "I am a huge Manchester United fan, so this is a dream come true for me to sign here.
"I'm really looking forward to developing and learning at this huge football club, and I can't wait to use all my playing attributes to help us achieve our joint goals on the pitch."
United boss Marc Skinner said: "Jayde is an exciting young player who matches the long-term version of Manchester United, and our continued belief in nurturing the best young talent in the game.
"We have been monitoring Jayde for a long time and believe she has the attributes to become an excellent footballer. We are delighted she has signed her first professional contract with us and look forward to seeing the quality she will add to the group."
United have also secured the loan signing of French international Estelle Cascarino for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old arrives from Paris St Germain and has had previous spells with Lyon, Paris FC and Bordeaux, winning two Division 1 titles and two French Cups so far in her career.
Cascarino said: "I am so happy and excited to be here. I want to grow as a player and a person, and help the team win trophies.
"On the pitch I am a fighter and like to help the team in both attack and defence. I cannot wait to get started here in England."
Skinner added: "We played against Estelle in the Toulouse Cup in the summer, and it was clear to see what she can add to our group.
"Estelle will add quality and versatility both in and out of possession. She can play in midfield or central defence with excellent technical ability and a calmness that is inherent of a player who trusts in her own ability.
"We're looking forward to working with Estelle, as we build a highly competitive, forward-thinking team."
