Jesse Lingard looks on for Man Utd

The pair made contrasting statements last week regarding Lingard's omission from the Manchester United squad.

There's no denying that Jesse Lingard was eyeing up a move away from Manchester United in January.

The 29-year-old enjoyed a superb stint on loan at West Ham this season, but has continued to be left out of the Red Devils lineup this season.
As a result, it looked increasingly likely that he'd leave on loan again in January, with both West Ham and Newcastle linked.
However, Lingard ended up staying, with Mason Greenwood's ongoing investigation leaving United short of attacking reinforcements.

Following the decision to keep him, Lingard was left out of United's squad for their fourth round FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough.

United ended up losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw, despite dominating much of the game and registering 30 shots on goal.
It left many wondering why Lingard wasn't involved in the squad at all, while two goalkeepers sat on the bench.

Rangnick openly stated that he believed Lingard had asked for an additional two days off after seeing his desired move break down, but the England international posted contrasting messages to social media stating that it was in fact the club who suggested he took some time away.

While there appeared to be a rift between the pair, the German manager rubbished the rumours and stated that their relationship was healthy.
"With regard to Jesse, I have a very good relationship with him.
"We have to look forward now. There were no problems whatsoever between myself and Jesse and vice versa.
"I'm happy to have him in the squad and he will be a member of the squad for tomorrow's game."
Rangnick also revealed that Lingard will be in United's squad for their upcoming Premier League clash with Burnley, alongside Edinson Cavani who was also absent for the Boro game.
Rangnick said: "They're both available and they will both be part of the squad for tomorrow's game. Both are top professionals and have been training well."
United travel to Turf Moor to take on the Clarets on Tuesday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 GMT.
