Manchester City vs Aston Villa betting odds, free bets and team news ahead of Premier League game at the Etihad

Aston Villa travel north to Manchester City tonight with a huge game in the context of the Champions League places.

Villa sit seventh in the table but after a 4-1 win over Newcastle they are now within two points of City, who also won at the weekend with a late 2-0 victory over Everton.

With five teams set to qualify for the Champions League this year it is a huge opportunity for one of the teams to move closer to the promised land.

Betting app Stakemate is offering fans a free £20 bet on the game tonight when you sign up and place a bet. The free bets are in the form of two £5 bets and two £5 group bets using the app's innovative groupbet system that allows you to improve your odds the more people who bet alongside you.

The best bets for Manchester City vs Aston Villa

According to Stakemate, City are overwhelming favourites for the game. They are just 10/13 to win with their home advantage while Villa are 66/25 at the time of writing.

There is plenty of value in the draw market. A 0-0 draw is 15-1 but as the teams scored six goals between them at the weekend it may be more tempting to go for a 1-1 draw at 7-1 odds or a 2-2 draw at 10-1 odds.

If you think one of the teams will shade it the 2-1 scoreline market offers 7-1 for City and 11-1 for Villa.

    Player bets and team news

Manchester City are without Erling Haaland for the game and that means a probable start for Omar Marmoush. He is 16/15 to score anytime to reflect his status as City's main goal threat. Kevin De Bruyne, so often a creator, is 13-5 at Stakemate.

An outside bet for City could be goalscoring defendder Gvardiol at 32/5. He is a threat from distance and set pieces and could offer good value.

Villa's main goal threat will be Ollie Watkins, fresh off two goals against Newcastle. He is 17-10 while fellow England striker Marcus Rashford is 2-1 to score anytime. He would love a goal against parent club Manchester United's cross-city rivals.

Ian Maatsen, the attacking full back who also scored against Newcastle, is 10-1 and Youri Tielemans is 39-5 to score anytime.

Stakemate also offers a few specials. Marmoush to have over 1.5 shots on target and both teams to score has been boosted to 12-5 here.
