Man Utd v Lyon: Predictions, tips and bet builder as Ruben Amorim's troops suffer Europa League misery

Manchester United's head coach Ruben Amorim
Man Utd’s terrible season could get even worse if they can’t find a way past Lyon in the second-leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday (2000 BST).
The Old Trafford clash with the French side is finely poised at 2-2, and the semi-finals are twinkling away in the distance for the victor.
For Manchester United it’s their most important game of the season, unless they really really want to claim the glory of 13th place in the Premier League.
But they come into this match on the back of a 4-1 hammering from Newcastle on Sunday and a big problem to solve between the sticks.
However much Ruben Amorim dressed it up, he dropped Andre Onana for the Newcastle match after his blunders against Lyon in the first leg.
His replacement at St James’ Park was Turkish stopper Altay Bayindir, who didn’t cover himself in glory either.
Amorim now has had four sleepless nights wondering who should go in goal for Thursday, and Lyon can totally capitalise on this.
Like an early version of Sensible Soccer, shooting from kick-off would be wise and then whenever they get near the penalty area.
United are the better side and should have enough to win on their own patch, but the media hoo-hah over the goalkeeper situation gives Lyon a great chance of coming away with the spoils.
We’ve put together some of the best bets for Manchester United v Lyon, which when put into a bet builder will draw in odds of around 11/1.

Chaos will reign at Old Trafford on Thursday and that should provide plenty of entertainment for the neutral whether you have a bet on or not.
The first leg finished 2-2, marking the seventh time a Lyon game has produced four or more goals in the competition.
Both teams have found the net in nine of Utd’s 11 Europa League fixtures, with both teams scoring in seven of Lyon’s European outings.
Actually it doesn’t matter who will be in goal for United, they will be in all sorts of mental turmoil and even over 3.5 goals might be worth a shout…unless they get Peter Schmeichel out of retirement.
Lyon to qualify
Lyon are unbeaten in their last 12 away Europa League games, and only three of them draws. They are also fourth in the French League and going along quite nicely, two points off second.
There is immense pressure on Utd to win this match. Their season rests on it. That may allow Lyon to sneak under the radar and, if they can keep themselves in the game, strike on the break or sneak through on penalties.
Over 7.5 corners
United are a solid bet when it comes to racking up corners at home in the Europa League, averaging just over six a match. Lyon are also high up the corners chart in Europe with a 5.8 corners per game.
There were 13 corners in the last match, so over 7.5 corners might be a bit on the low side, but fairly safe.
