Man Utd reportedly targeting Brazilian star as Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first signing

Manchester United are engaged in talks regarding the potential signing of a Brazilian football star, which would mark Sir Jim Ratcliffe's first acquisition for the club.

The billionaire owner of INEOS successfully completed the takeover earlier this season, marking a significant shift in the club's direction.

Although no new players arrived during the January transfer window, indications suggest that a major transformation is on the horizon come summer.

Recent speculation has generated considerable buzz around incoming signings, hinting at an imminent overhaul at Old Trafford with numerous arrivals and departures expected.

According to reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, Manchester United have stepped up discussions with Gleison Bremer, aiming to gain an advantage over other Premier League clubs in securing the player's services.

Bremer, who currently plays for Juventus, had previously held talks with Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea in 2022, as reported by the Express.

Despite ongoing interest from these clubs in bolstering their defensive options this summer, United's alleged intensified negotiations place them in a favourable position to land the Brazilian centre-back.

Many pundits believe that Bremer could serve as a viable replacement for Harry Maguire, especially considering the speculated release clause in his contract.

While the exact figure of the release clause remains uncertain, ranging between £43m and £58m in various reports, discussions with Bremer are likely centred on contractual terms rather than a transfer fee with Juventus.

Additionally, Manchester United is also keeping tabs on other defensive targets, such as Jarrad Branthwaite, as they strategise their summer transfer plans.
