A battered and bruised Man United side will be looking to end one of their worst ever seasons on a positive note when they welcome Aston Villa to Old Trafford (Sun, 1600 BST).

United will be glad to see the back end of this season. Nothing has gone right for the Red Devils – from poor recruitment, Jim Ratcliffe’s embarrassing cheapness and humiliating results on the field, there really isn’t one positive.

Wednesday’s Europa League final defeat marked a new low for the club. The competition was United’s ‘get out of jail free card’ but Ruben Amorim’s men simply couldn’t cash it in.

A win would not only have secured a much-needed trophy, but it would also secure Champions League football for next season – and around £100m that comes with it.

Instead, the Red Devils fell to a painful defeat against a similarly woeful Tottenham Hotspur side - one which has lost a record 21 Premier League games this season.

As a result of Wednesday defeat, there are huge question marks over the future of Amorim as the Red Devils enter the summer transfer window without many resources.

From a club that’s down in the dumps to one that is on the rise, Aston Villa head to Old Trafford looking to secure Champions League qualification for a successive season.

Unai Emery’s men enter the final round of games in sixth place, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea and fourth-placed Newcastle.

In short words, Villa need to win and hope their rivals drop points as they look to rub shoulders with the European elite for another season.

The only real concern for Emery’s side ahead of Sunday’s fixture is their poor recent record away at Old Trafford.

The Villans have lost their last four visits to the ground across all competitions. In fact, they’ve only picked up one win at the Theatre of Dreams in 15 years.

Considering Aston Villa are the only ones with something to play for we’re backing the visitors the get the job done.

What’s more, with United losing four of their last five, it’s best to stay clear of them in the outright market.

Villa’s last three Premier League matches have all seen two or fewer goals. The same goes for United. With that in mind, we’re adding under 3.5 goals to the acca.

In terms of specific players, we like the look of Ollie Watkins. The Villa forward has come up with two goal contributions in his last two outings and has generally enjoyed a fruitful season with 16 goals and eight assists to his name. We expect Watkins to bump those numbers at Old Trafford.

Lastly, with Villa set to push for Champions League qualification, we are backing United goalkeeper Andre Onana to have a busy day. The 29-year-old to make three or more saves is currently priced at 1/3.
