Man United v Rangers bet builder: Tips and predictions as 'worst' Red Devils seek European respite

The 'worst team' in the history of Manchester United will be looking to take on arguably the worst Rangers team in recent years when the two meet in the Europa League.

When we say the ‘worst team’ we’re clearly not basing this on our own opinions of Man United. Instead, we’re quoting manager Ruben Amorim. Afterall, he is best placed to make that judgement.

If you’re a player in that changing room, you must have mixed feelings about what your manager is saying in the media. On one hand, he’s not doing much to build confidence with comments like that. On the other, he’s not exactly wrong.

Rangers aren’t doing much better as battle for Old Firm supremacy is turning more green than blue.

Here, we take a closer look at Thursday’s encounter and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Bruno Fernandes to score or assist – 8/11

Man United to win and both teams to score

Man United’s sole Premier League win since mid-December came at home against Southampton – that should tell you everything about the current situation at Old Trafford.

Despite their troubles domestically, United are actually decent when it comes to the Europa League.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in six games and have won their last three against PAOK, Bodo/Glimt and Viktoria Plzen.

Rangers, meanwhile, are actually in half decent form heading into this game, with three straight victories under their belt.

The Teddy Bears have never scored against Man United and we’re backing that to change. Despite this, we’re still siding with the hosts when it comes to the final result.

    Goal in both halves

Both Man United and Rangers have seen their fair share of high-scoring encounters in recent weeks.

The Scottish side, for instance, have seen a total of 20 goals across five games. For United that total is 16 across the same number of games.

With both teams being involved in goal-heavy encounters, we’re backing the net to rattle in both halves.

Man United to have most bookings

Rangers have not only seen their results improve, but their discipline has also been solid with few bookings across their last five games.

Man United, on the other hand, have been a handful for referees. There’s been a total of 24 bookings dished out across United’s last four games alone – an average of six a game.

Bruno Fernandes to score or assist

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes is about to bring up a half-century of Europa League appearances. During this time, the Portuguese star has accumulated 37 goal contributions – including 20 goals.

Only one of other player has done better across the same number of games, that being Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 40.

Fernandes is clearly a top performer in this competition and we’re backing that trend to continue.
