Man City v Chelsea: Tips, predictions and bet builder as Etihad hosts potential goal-thriller

Cole Palmer of Chelsea

Saturday’s main event emanates from the Etihad stadium as Manchester City take on Chelsea in a fixture with potential top four implications (1730 GMT).

Man City’s dodgy season took another rogue turn when Pep Guardiola’s men let a two-goal lead slip in a 4-2 defeat to PSG on Wednesday.

The Citizens are now starring down the barrel of Champions League elimination after losing three of their last four in the competition.

Before Chelsea fans start laughing, may we remind you that at least City play in the Champions League. Unlike the Blues who are currently mixing it up in the continent’s third tier competition.

When it comes to the Premier League, both City and Chelsea are targeting a top four spot – though with the way things are going, it could be a close fight.

With that in mind, Saturday’s encounter has an extra layer of importance. Here, we take a closer look at the fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Man City vs Chelsea bet builder

Both teams to score – 4/11

Over 3.5 goals – 19/20

Erling Haaland to score anytime – 17/20

Cole Palmer to score anytime – 8/5

Both teams to score & over 3.5 goals

Anything is possible in the Premier League, but the chances of this match being a goalless draw are very slim - 25/1 to be exact.

Let’s start with the Citizens. Their last five games alone have produced a total of 29 goals. That’s almost six per match.

The promising sign for Guardiola is the fact 22 of those goals were scored by his men. In fact, his side were on a six-match unbeaten run before that unfortunate ending in Paris.

Chelsea’s recent games haven’t produced quite as many goals, but the number are still rather impressive.

The Blues have scored 10 goals across their last three games – including three against Wolves last time out.

Enzo Maresca’s men didn’t have European duties this midweek and will be the fresher side heading into this fixture.

With all that in mind, we’re backing both teams to score and over 3.5 goals.

Erling Haaland to score anytime

Kevin De Bruyne is normally a good goalscoring tip, considering the Belgian international has scored five goals against his former side. He has only scored more goals against one other Premier League outfit – Arsenal.

However, we’re going with Erling Haaland on this occasion. The big Norwegian has scored five goals from his last five games and also scored in his last game against Chelsea.

Cole Palmer to score anytime

Cole Palmer is arguably the biggest talent that City have lost during Pep Guardiola’s reign at the club.

The Englishman is having another tremendous season in the goalscoring department, bagging 14 in the Premier League alone – just three shy of Haaland.

His last three league goals have been match openers inside 20 minutes, meaning its worth keeping an eye on the Chelsea man in the early minutes.
