Manchester City need to shake off their Wembley woes as they prepare to host Bournemouth in a match with huge top five implications (Tues 2000 BST).

City were consigned to their first trophyless season since 2016/17 after losing last weekend’s FA Cup final to Crystal Palace.

The Citizens were tipped to win the title at the start of the season but suffered an unprecedented collapse – one which reverberated across all competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s men are now looking to avoid a complete season collapse by clinching a top five finish and securing a spot in the Champions League.

As things stand, there’s only one point separating third-placed Newcastle United and seventh-placed Nottingham Forest.

City are currently in sixth spot, but even a point on Tuesday night against Bournemouth would see them climb back into the top five ahead of the final matchday.

However, getting a result against the Cherries is a lot easier said than done. Andoni Iraola’s men beat City in the reverse fixture back in November and are now looking to secure an unprecedented season double.

Bournemouth have already broken their own club record for the number of points won in a top-flight campaign. In fact, Iraola’s success has already attracted attention from a number of big clubs.

The Spaniard could yet make more history. Bournemouth already completed a season double over Arsenal at the start of May and backing that up with a double over Man City would be truly remarkable.

The big problem for the Cherries is their woeful record away at the Etihad. Their eight visits to the ground have ended with eight defeats – including a 6-1 pummelling last time out.

Here we pick out some of our best tips for this juicy Premier League meeting, and if you put it into a Betway bet builder you’ll get odds of around 6/1.

The stakes are high for Man City as they look to finish the season strong and secure entry into the Champions League.

The one big stat in their favour is home form. For all their troubles, City have been strong at the Etihad, going on a six-match unbeaten run and winning five of those encounters.

Only Real Madrid and Liverpool have picked up wins away at the Etihad which would certainly put Bournemouth in good company should they stun the Citizens.

We’re not convinced that they can, which is why we’re putting our chips on Man City to win and both teams to score. This landed in five of the previous six meetings between these clubs at the Etihad.

Considering City are battling to save their season, we’re backing them to get on the front foot and do most of the attacking. With that in mind, City to have most shots on target is the way to go.

Lastly, we’re going with Kevin De Bruyne to score or assist. The Belgian star is preparing for his last home games at the Etihad and will be looking to sign off in style.
