Lucas Paqueta's £51million move to West Ham on final lap

West Ham have a final few hurdles to clear before Lucas Paqueta can pull on a claret and blue shirt.

The Brazilian international is expected to complete his £51million switch from Lyon to West Ham United in the next few days once a medical and contracts are signed.

The 24-year-old arrived in London last night and will undergo a medical at the east London club on Sunday morning.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano the plan is confirmed and it is just the contracts that need signing.

"Lucas Paquetá is in London together with his agents, arrived on Saturday night," Romano Tweeted.
"First part of medical as new West Ham player will take place in the next hours, full agreement and documents exchanged with OL."
Obviously Sunday's afternoon Aston Villa match is too early for the Paqueta to make his first appearance, although there is a slim chance the London derby with Spurs on Wednesday night could see the Brazilian take centre stage.

The playmaker scored 11 goals and added seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for Lyon last season.

West Ham take on Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon looking to land their first points and first goal of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Vladimir Coufal is set to return after completing a concussion protocol and new signing Emerson Palmieri could be in line to make his debut for the club.

However, Craig Dawson is still expected to be missing with a thigh injury he picked up in pre-season.
