Liverpool news: Thiago Alcantara says Reds are in a 'one-mission mood' for upcoming clashes

Liverpool's April will be hugely significant to their silverware chances this season, with huge clashes in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

Liverpool will play eight matches in the month of April, including their two legs against Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals, plus an FA Cup semi-final and top-of-the-table Premier League clash against Manchester City.

The Reds will also come up against two of their biggest rivals late in the month, with a visit from Manchester United followed up by a Merseyside derby with Everton.

With Jurgen Klopp's men still on track for a record-breaking quadruple, April will be the telling month in whether they're capable of achieving such a feat.

However, while much has been made of Liverpool's upcoming few weeks, midfielder Thiago Alcantara insists the side are excited to play so many crucial games in such a short period.

"The other day I was talking with some friends about it and I never had, in the years that I have been involved in football, a month so exciting like this with such important and exciting matches every three days," said the Spaniard.
"For sure it is exciting because you are competing against the best, in the best competitions as well, but also because it reminds you that we are in finals.
"It looks like a World Cup, a European Cup, where every game is a final. With that we are in a one-mission mood and we are there."
However, while Liverpool's clashes with Manchester City are of course the standout fixtures, games against teams such as Watford and Newcastle United bare just as much importance to their league aspirations.
With that in mind, Thiago has encouraged his teammates to focus on one game at a time, starting with the visit from Watford on Saturday lunchtime.
"I think we are ready for all the challenges we have ahead and we just focus on the next game that we have," Thiago added.
"We will always be like that, so we have just in our head now Watford and that's it.
"I think the Carabao Cup (victory in February) gave us much more confidence than we had before.
"We had high stakes to win the final, we won it and the guys were incredibly happy and confident.
"But also it is important to arrive in this moment of the season and be ready for the finals that we have."
With the Anfield clash scheduled for the early Saturday kick-off, Liverpool will have a chance to rise above rivals Manchester City in the league for the first time since September.
What's more, Liverpool playing their Premier League fixture before City is a trend that continues throughout April, allowing the Reds to pile the pressure on their title rivals with three points.
However, Thiago was dismissive when questioned about the potential psychological advantage Liverpool could gain from playing first.
"I don't think to see us on top before City plays would be a boost," he added.
"No, it's just that we are in a moment where every three points count and we are really glad to arrive at this position."
