Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ‘no reason to talk’ with Steven Gerrard ahead of season finale

Jurgen Klopp revealed he doesn’t plan on speaking with Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard to offer words of encouragement ahead of their clash against Manchester City.

In order to win the Premier League title, Liverpool will need to pick up a win against Wolves and hope that Aston Villa either beat or at least hold Manchester City to a draw.

As things stand, the Reds are just one point behind in the table ahead of the much-anticipated final round.

In his pre-match press conference, Klopp was asked whether he was planning on reaching out to the former Liverpool midfielder. However, the German manager played down such suggestions, saying: "No, of course not."
He added: "Stevie prepares now for Burnley, who are fighting for everything. It's Villa's last home game.
"They will play that game and then collect the bones and go again on Sunday.
"There's no reason to talk to him. We all know that Villa wants to win because Villa wants to win - that's it."
Liverpool were in action on Tuesday night as they came back from a goal down to beat Southampton 2-1 away at St Mary's stadium.

That victory maintained the club's quadruple hopes ahead of the Premier League finale and the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid.

Joel Matip, who scored the winner against the Saints, told Liverpool's club website: "We just can play our games and that's what we are concentrating on. We try to make it as exciting as possible.

"We can only look at our game. It will be tough enough to play against Wolves and our full concentration is on Wolves - that's the only thing we can change and that's what we are doing.
"It will be hard enough and if our head is somewhere else that would make it even more of a tough challenge."
