  • LA Galaxy'S Chicharito Maintains His Prolific Start To MLS Season

LA Galaxy's Chicharito maintains his prolific start to MLS season

Sixth goal of the season for former Manchester United striker, while Nani is also on the mark again.

Saturday was just what Chicharito and the Los Angeles Galaxy needed to prove they are to be taken seriously this season.
Back from a lacklustre 2020 campaign, the Galaxy failed in their first big test in matchday three with a 3-0 loss at Seattle Sounders.
However, in matchday four, they came out on top with an impressive 2-1 win over LAFC in the El Trafico rivalry.

The Mexican star was the biggest superstar on the pitch on Saturday, capping his display with an impressive goal. He demanded the attention of all the LAFC defenders in the box for 90-plus minutes.

Chicharito's sixth goal of the season put the underdogs on top in the 11th minute. The reigning Golden Boot winner, Diego Rossi, levelled in the 62nd minute for LAFC.

Chicharito, who missed all four El Traficos last season through injury, set up the game-winner in the 79th minute. Drawing all the attention to the edge of the box, Chicharito slid a pass in front of the goal for Jonathan Dos Santos to score the clincher.

With nine points from four games, the Galaxy next play at home against expansion side Austin FC on Saturday.

Meanwhile, LAFC travel to Seattle. According to Paddy Power, the Sounders are 5/4, while a draw is 12/5 and LAFC are 2/1.

Eastern Conference duo can't be split

Both Orlando City SC and New York City FC fancy themselves as contenders in the Eastern Conference. However, they could not be separated on Saturday, fighting out a 1-1 draw in Florida.

Nani scored again, with an absolute rocket of a goal, and the former Manchester United star continues to play at a high level. His 52nd-minute strike was a goal of the week candidate and put the Lions on top.

The visitors got even in the 77th minute. Joao Moutinho fouled Ismael Tajouri-Shradi in the box and Valentin Castellanos buried the penalty to earn NYCFC the draw.

The Lions have six points from four games with three draws thus far. They are next in action on Sunday at DC United. Paddy Power has Orlando at 6/5 with the hosts at 2/1 and a draw at 5/2.

The Pigeons are top of the table in the East on goal differential. They will host struggling Toronto FC on Saturday and are 8/15 favourites. A draw is 10/3 and Toronto FC are 4/1.

Unbeaten Seattle edge out Portland Timbers

Elsewhere in the league, Seattle took the Cascadia Cup rivalry game over Portland Timbers 2-1. The win gives Seattle 10 points, leading the Western Conference by one point.

Raul Ruidiaz scored from the spot and had another goal disallowed. Fredy Montero scored in the 79th minute before the Timbers pulled one back in stoppage time.

Inter Miami CF scored in the 77th minute to earn a draw against Atlanta United on Saturday. The visitors were thrilled to finally get Josef Martinez back in the starting line-up and the former MVP scored in the ninth minute.

Lewis Morgan tied the game with his first goal since October and manager Phil Neville felt his side deserved a stoppage-time penalty. However, VAR did not punish Brad Guzan despite the keeper appearing to take down Victor Ulloa in the box.

Inter Miami host CF Montreal on Wednesday. They are 6/10 with Montreal at 4/1 and a draw at 14/5.
