Jurgen Klopp in a battle to sign Ousmane Dembele as new favourite emerges

Newcastle United have emerged as shock favourites to grab the signature of Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, a player Klopp is an admirer of.

Newcastle United have emerged as shock contenders to land French star Ousmane Dembele.
The French international cost Barcelona more than £100m when they snapped him up in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund.
His contract is now due to expire next summer, and Newcastle appear to now be in the mix for a player who is already earning in excess of £200,000-a-week.

The likes of Liverpool, whose boss Jurgen Klopp, is a big fan of the player, are interested in his services alongside German giants Bayern Munich.

However, most of Europe's elite are believed to be keen on signing the player on a free transfer should he leave Barcelona at the end of the season.

But the most surprising candidates are actually the favourites, in the shape of Newcastle. Betfair list The Magpies - who are now the richest club in world football following their recent takeover led by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund - as the front-runners at 5/2.

2022 is likely to see some huge deals being done by Newcastle and Dembele could very well be one of those.

Liverpool are strong second favourites for Dembele at 5/1 while the likes of Manchester City (9/1), Bayern Munich (12/1) and Manchester United also fancied.
