Japan’s Urawa Reds will be battling to stay in the Club World Cup when they take on Serie A giants Inter Milan in Seattle this Saturday (2000 BST).

Urawa captain Marius Hoibraaten made headlines on Tuesday after blanking the River Plate players during the customary pre-match handshakes.

The Norwegian player walked past his opponents, later explaining that he was simply thrown off by the new setting and too much in the zone to concentrate on the traditional protocol.

River Plate clearly took offence as they powered to a comfortable 3-1 win, stamping their authority in the group and putting themselves in pole position for progression.

Unfortunately for Urawa, that result has left the Japanese side in a sticky predicament, with one more defeat securing their ticket home.

On the bright side, Maciej Skorza’s men are taking on an Inter Milan side that is not only in the midst of an injury crisis but also miserably low on confidence.

After being hammered 5-0 in the Champions League final, the last thing Inter players wanted to do was go to America for a low-profile tournament.

Instead of recuperating from their long old season, the Serie A outfit played out a 1-1 draw with Mexican outfit Monterrey, making them the first Italian side to fail to win a Club World Cup match.

Another big fixture awaits the Italian side in Seattle, with Inter ideally needing a win over Urawa Reds to boost their hopes of progression.

That task will be made a lot harder, with the Italians missing the injured trio of Marcus Thuram, Denzel Dumfries and Hakan Calhanoglu.

Inter’s problems will undoubtedly give Urawa a shot in the arm as the Japanese side look to make club history against European opposition.

The J1 outfit have lost their last two Club World Cup games against European clubs, falling to AC Milan in 2007 and Manchester City back in 2023.

Urawa lost both those games to nil, but with Inter coming into this game without any kind of momentum and with serious injury issues to deal with, Skorza’s men will certainly fancy their chances.

Here, we take a closer look at the fixture, picking out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Inter Milan v Urawa Reds best bets

Urawa Reds draw no bet – 11/1

Both teams to score – 23/20

    Over 6.5 corners – 1/6

    Over 6.5 shots on target – 3/10

New manager Cristian Chivu certainly has a lot on his plate during these early weeks at Inter.

The manager will not be judged by his team’s outcome at the Club World Cup, but a good run at the tournament certainly wouldn’t do any harm.

However, with Urawa fighting to stay in the tournament, we expect the J1 outfit to put in a much-improved performance.

At the same time, Inter will have to make a number of changes as they look to overcome their injury problems.

With that in mind, we are kicking off our bet builder by backing Urawa in the draw no bet market at a tasty 11/1.

Six of Urawa’s last seven matches have seen BTTS land, while six of their last nine at the Club World Cup have seen over 2.5 goals. Consequently, we are expecting a lot of goal-mouth action.

Both teams to score, over 6.5 corners and over 6.5 shots on target make up the rest of our bet builder ahead of Saturday’s fixture.
