Lionel Messi of Inter Miami CF looks on during the FIFA Club World Cup Group A game

The most boring group at the Club World Cup resumes as Inter Miami take on FC Porto at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (2000 BST).

Watching paint dry, waiting for water to boil, counting blades of grass – just some of the things we would rather do than watch another Group A match.

Can you blame us? The opener between Inter Miami and Al Ahly ended in a bore goalless draw, and it was followed up by another bore goalless draw between FC Porto and Palmeiras.

Filling stadiums has proved a major problem for the Club World Cup bosses, but realistically speaking, who wants to spend money watching a bunch of knackered footballers squeeze the last bit of life out of themselves for FIFA’s financial gains.

Nevertheless, the tournament goes on as Lionel Messi and his Inter Miami teammates head to Atlanta.

The MLS side needed a Oscar Ustari penalty save to earn a point against Al Ahly in their opener – a result which stretched their unbeaten run to four games across all competitions.

FC Porto were also rather fortunate to avoid defeat against Palmeiras, with the 30-time Portuguese champions putting in a below-par performance.

The European side finished their domestic season with five wins from six games, but they have struggled to bring that form over to America. Fatigue is undoubtedly one of the reasons, with all the UEFA clubs coming off long domestic and continental campaigns.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs, and Porto’s first competitive fixture against a club from the United States.

It will also be Inter’s second match against European opposition, previously losing 6-0 against Barcelona in a friendly.

Looking ahead to Thursday night, Inter will fancy their chances. The MLS side won on their last trip to Atlanta and will feel more at home than their underperforming rivals.

Inter Miami v FC Porto best bets

Inter Miami draw no bet – 21/10

    Under 2.5 goals – 6/4

Lionel Messi over 1.5 shots on target – 7/4

Inter Miami had their fair share of chances in their opening games, and should they start to convert some of these opportunities against Porto, the Portuguese side could be in trouble.

The MLS side scored 12 goals in their three games leading up to the Club World Cup, meaning they know how to find the back of the net.

At the peak of their powers, Porto would win nine of every 10 fixtures against Inter Miami. However, with the Blue and Whites performing well below their optimum, they are most certainly for the taking.

With that in mind, we’re backing Inter Miami in the draw no bet market. We are also adding under 2.5 goals to our acca.

In terms of specific player bets, we are banking on Lionel Messi to have over 1.5 shots on target.

The Argentinian is a big reason for having Inter Miami in the tournament in the first place, and we are backing the 37-year-old to put on a show.
