Bayern Munich kicked off their DFB Pokal campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over Preussen Munster, showcasing their dominance even without a key player in their starting line-up.

The Bavarian giants, however, suffered a significant setback as Serge Gnabry sustained a forearm injury that will see him sidelined for an extended period.

Coach Thomas Tuchel, visibly concerned, confirmed the injury, stating on Twitter, "Serge Gnabry has broken his forearm, will have surgery tomorrow, and will be out for a few weeks. That's extremely bitter for us."

Gnabry's absence will undoubtedly be felt, but Bayern's strength in depth gives them reason to remain optimistic. Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane, both in excellent form, will be the preferred choices on the wings.

Additionally, Mathys Tel, who has been on a goal-scoring spree, is pushing for a starting spot. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Thomas Muller, and the versatile Jamal Musiala provide further options in the attacking department.

While Gnabry's injury is a setback, Bayern's array of attacking talents suggests they can manage his absence effectively.

Defensive duo returns for Bayern's Bundesliga clash with RB Leipzig

In more promising news for Bayern Munich, Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano are set to return for the upcoming Bundesliga showdown against RB Leipzig. Both defenders missed the DFB Pokal match against Munster due to minor injuries but are now ready to bolster the team's backline.

However, Matthijs de Ligt is not expected to regain fitness in time for the RB Leipzig clash but could potentially make a return in next week's Champions League fixture against FC Copenhagen.

Another encouraging development for Bayern is the imminent return of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who has spent nine long months on the sidelines. Neuer was recently seen training alongside Sven Ulreich, raising hopes of a swift return to first-team action.
