Hoffenheim v Tottenham bet builder: Tips and predictions as Ange Postecoglou holds on to Spurs job

Tottenham will be looking to put their Premier League blues behind them when they shift their focus to European duties and a tasty Thursday night trip to Germany.

Hoffenheim is the destination for Spurs who could do with six points from their next two Europa League games in order to ensure a top eight finish.

Of course, there’s more to this game than just points. Ange Postecoglou must feel like one of those cats with nine lives… except he probably has one or two left.

For all their troubles in the Premier League, Spurs have actually done quite well in cup and European competitions. In fact, you could say that those results have kept the Aussie in the job.

However, a defeat away to Hoffenheim would not only condemn Tottenham to a third straight defeat across all competitions but would also nudge Postecoglou closer towards the trap door.

Here, we take a closer look at Thursday’s encounter and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Hoffenheim vs Tottenham bet builder tips

Hoffenheim – Draw Double Chance – 4/6

Over 2.5 goals – 40/85

One goal winning margin – 7/5

Dejan Kulusevski +2 shots on target – 12/5

Hoffenheim-Draw Double Chance

On one hand, you must think we’re crazy for daring to back Hoffenheim in this one.

A team sitting 15th in the Bundesliga? A team that is three points above the relegation zone? A team that won six games all season across all competitions? Is this really a side that can take down one of Premier League’s big hitters?

Yes, that’s exactly what we think. The German club come into this game on the back of a potentially season defining win over Holstein Kiel.

What’s more, Christian Ilzer’s men have a good home record, losing three and winning five of their last 10 matches at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim.

When you couple all of that with Tottenham’s dreadful form, you can bet your bottom dollar that Hoffenheim will smell blood.

The German side need a win to stay in the competition, while Spurs need this to arguably keep hold of their current manager. With such high stakes, we’re backing the hosts in the double chance market.

Over 2.5 goals

Tottenham’s results have been abominable but that’s not to say their matches have been boring. In fact, quite the opposite.

Their last three matches have produced 11 goals alone while their last five away matches average 3.4 goals.

Hoffenheim’s three goals against Kiel prove they are also capable of causing damage up front. With that in mind, we’re backing over 2.5 goals on Thursday.

One goal winning margin

Four of Tottenham’s last five outings have seen a one goal winning margin. The only game not to fit that trend was their trip to Tamworth which saw Spurs taken all the way to extra time.

Hoffenheim’s last six games at home have either ended with a one goal winning margin or a draw. If that is to continue, expect another close encounter on Thursday.

Dejan Kulusevski +2 shots on target

The most dangerous man in the Tottenham side at the moment has to be Dejan Kulusevski.

The Swede scored in the 3-2 defeat to Everton last weekend and has scored seven across his last 12 games for Spurs.

With Hoffenheim likely doing most of the defending, we’re backing Kulusevski to get 2+ shots on target.
