Griezmann’s return to Atletico could be followed by further arrivals, including Lingard

La Liga champions are planning a busy summer, with two deals involving Manchester United in the pipeline.

It could be all change at Atletico Madrid this summer despite the fact they won the Spanish title.

The Spanish giants shocked Real Madrid and Barcelona last time out by capturing their first top-flight crown since 2014.

Argentine star Rodrigo De Paul has already arrived, but the big news is the possible re-signing of club legend Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.

Barcelona need to recoup money in order to pay for deals, including a new contract for Lionel Messi which has been verbally agreed.

Indeed, a deal for Griezmann which would see Saul Niguez move in the opposite direction, is being discussed.

Bookmakers believe the French star is on his way, with Atletico as short as 1/10 with Betfair to re-sign him - that is a 90% probability.

Manchester City and Chelsea have both been offered Griezmann and, despite some interest, are unlikely to get into the way of Atletico.

Atletico are busy in the market and two deals centre around Manchester United.

A deal is close to being agreed with Kieran Trippier to move to Old Trafford and markets are closed on that happening with the England full-back looking set to seal a move early this week.

And another conversation is taking place between the clubs about Jesse Lingard.

Lingard finished last season on loan at West Ham, with his impressive form earning him an England recall. Lingard is now looking at his options and a return to West Ham is the favoured outcome with bookmakers. However, Atletico have made an enquiry and are an enticing 25/1 to land him.

With Atletico determined not to rest on their laurels and head coach Diego Simeone extending his contract to 2024, it is perhaps a surprise to see the champions as outsiders of three to win La Liga.

However, the markets tell us that they face an uphill task to claim their first back-to-back titles since the 1950s, with a follow up priced at around 7/2.

Meanwhile, there is little to split Real and Barcelona at the head of the betting.
