Gerrard’s Villa eased in the FA Cup betting after being handed a trip to Man United

Tie is one of three all-Premier League clashes in the third round, while Shrewsbury repeat sees Liverpool’s odds shorten.

Aston Villa were the biggest losers when the FA Cup third round draw was made on Monday evening.

Steven Gerrard's side were handed a trip to Manchester United in one of three all-Premier League ties and immediately saw their odds pushed out from 28/1 to 33s. United are 13/2 to deliver the silverware Cristiano Ronaldo so craves.

The tie will also be the first meeting in the cup since 2008, when goals from Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney gave United a 2-0 victory.

Gerrard's former side Liverpool were trimmed to 13/2 after being drawn against Shrewsbury for a second successive season.

The two sides met in the fourth round in 2020/21, with the Reds prevailing after a replay.

Cup holders Leicester are 14/1 to retain the trophy after being handed a home tie against fellow Premier League side Watford.

High-flying West Ham are 20/1 after being drawn at home to Leeds.

It will be the first of two back-to-back matches between the clubs, with the West Yorkshire club travelling south a week later on January 16 for a league fixture.

Newcastle United are generating a bit of interest in the market ahead of the expected wave of January signings. The newly minted Magpies are 40/1 shots ahead of a third-round tie at home to Cambridge United.

National League leaders Chesterfield have landed a plum tie at eight-time winners Chelsea.

Chelsea, who have not played the Spireites since a 3-0 defeat in 1950, are 11/2 for the cup.

Fellow non-league sides Yeovil and Kidderminster have home draws against Championship sides Bournemouth and Reading respectively. Boreham Wood entertain AFC Wimbledon.

Manchester City head the betting after being handed a trip to League Two side Swindon. Pep Guardiola's side are 10/3 to regain the trophy they won in 2019.

All third-round ties are scheduled to be played between January 7-10.
