Brentford target and Forest favourite Djed Spence joins Rennes on loan from Spurs

Tottenham defender Djed Spence has snubbed a switch to another Premier League club by joining Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old joined Spurs from Middlesbrough in July after a successful spell on loan at Nottingham Forest, but the England Under-21 international has struggled for game time under Antonio Conte.
The deal doesn't include an option to buy clause, as Spurs still see Spence's future in North London and the defender wasn't keen on a permanent move.

Both Forest and Brentford had reportedly been interested in a move for the fleet-footed defender.

Spence also turned down offers from Spanish side Atletico Madrid and Italian outfit Sassuolo.

"The right-back has made six appearances in our colours to date and will now team up with Joe Rodon, who joined the French side on a season-long loan at the beginning of the current campaign," Tottenham said on their official website.
