Interest in USA striker hots up while Matthew Hoppe commits to Schalke 04.

SOCCER: Toronto FC general manager Ali Curtis has refused to comment on speculation Jozy Altidore wants to leave the MLS side. A Liga MX side is one of those interested in Altidore who was left out of the USA side to face Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

USA team coach Gregg Berhalter confirmed Altidore's withdrawal was influenced by the imminent closure of the transfer window in Mexico and across Europe, adding: "There have been a number of clubs interested in Jozy." (Toronto Sun)
