Fabrizio Romano: Bayern Munich interested in Zinedine Zidane
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported that Bayern Munich want Zinedine Zidane as their primary managerial target, after Julian Nagelsmann's commitment to Germany.
This development marks the closest Zidane has come to a return to football since his departure from Real Madrid at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.
Romano weighed in on the matter during an interview with The Daily Briefing. While confirming Bayern's interest in Zidane, Romano mentioned that the extent of this interest and its seriousness remain unclear at this stage.
Zidane's potential appointment as Bayern's manager raises questions about whether he is the frontrunner for the position.
"Bayern will discuss internally again about the manager's position after Nagelsmann's refusal, waiting to understand who will be the new front runner for the job," Romano told The Daily Briefing.
"There are a few names in the frame and it's true that Zinedine Zidane has been discussed internally as an option. There was a meeting to discuss managers and Zidane was mentioned, but it was weeks ago, nothing concrete since then."
The Frenchman has previously expressed his eagerness to re-enter management, indicating that he may soon have the opportunity to stage his comeback in the footballing arena.
