Everton news: Midfield duo ruled out for up to a month through injury

Duncan Ferguson's task of keeping Everton afloat in the Premier League will be made harder with two of his midfielders sidelined for up to a month.

The Toffees currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just four points clear of the drop zone.

What's more, Everton have two crucial games against fellow relegation candidates Newcastle United and Leeds United up next.

But, interim manager Duncan Ferguson will have to navigate February's fixtures without midfield duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph.
Doucoure has been a pivotal part of Everton's midfield since his £20million move back in 2020.
But, the 29-year-old was forced off in the club's recent 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, limping off with a groin injury after 65 minutes.
The club have today confirmed that he is "expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks".
That not only rules him out of the relegation dogfights against Newcastle and Leeds, but also means he's unlikely to feature against Southampton or Manchester City later in the month.
A similar timeline has been put on the recovery of Fabian Delph, who reportedly sustained a thigh injury during a training session this week.
The 32-year-old has made six appearances this season for the Toffees.
