Euro 2024: England suffer early semi-final blow as super computer makes Netherlands prediction

England manager Gareth Southgate at Euro 2024

England and Netherlands will battle for a spot at the Euro 2024 final in Dortmund this Wednesday, though according to a sport data company it will be the Three Lions shedding tears at the end.

Gareth Southgate’s men have trudged their way into the semi-finals despite failing to put on a single convincing performance.

After topping their group with five points, England beat Slovakia in extra time before knocking out Switzerland in the quarter-finals on penalties.

The Three Lions are now just one match away from bagging a spot in a successive European Championship final.

Getting past the Netherlands certainly won’t be easy. The Dutch limped their way out of the group stage but have since looked more convincing in their 3-0 win over Romania and 2-1 success against Turkey.

According to sports data agency Nielsen’s Gracenote, the Netherlands have been given a 54.6% chance of winning Wednesday’s match.

To make matters worse for England, the same agency believes that the Three Lions have the smallest percentage chance of all four teams left in the tournament to win the Euros.

According to them, Spain have a 33.7% chance of going all the way, followed by France with 25.2%, the Netherlands with 23.7% and England with 17.4%.

While Dortmund hosts England’s date with the Netherlands, the other semi-final will take place in Munich.

Tuesday’s game between France and Spain will determine the first finalist as the two teams battle for their ticket to Berlin.

Spain have been given a 55.2% chance of winning the match and challenging for a fourth European crown.
