Erling Haaland's Chelsea transfer snub opens door for Manchester City

Blues not among in-demand striker’s top six options; Rangers fear Steven Gerrard is Liverpool-bound.

SOCCER: Erling Haaland has narrowed his next destination to six clubs, according to the Daily Star.

The news is a massive snub to Chelsea, with only Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real MadridBarcelona and Juventus believed to be in the running for the Borussia Dortmund striker's signature.

Haaland's current value is believed to be around £95million, which would also put him beyond the reach of United should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's recent comments regarding their summer spending be taken at face value.
And, with Barcelona's struggling with financial problems of their own, the field does seem to be reducing further.

Sky Bet have Manchester City as 5/2 favourites to land Haaland before the summer transfer window closes on September 3.

However, Spanish radio station Cadena SER is reporting that Real Madrid are going to do "everything possible" to secure Haaland this summer.
Real Madrid are rated at 12/1 to do just that, while fellow 'big six' member Bayern Munich are 7/1.
Of course, if Borussia Dortmund head of first-team football Sebastian Kehl is to be believed, Haaland is going nowhere this summer.
Transfer betting, eh?

Rangers worried Liverpool will Kop Gerrard when Klopp goes

SOCCER: Rangers chiefs are fearful Liverpool will target Steven Gerrard should Jurgen Klopp leave Anfield, report the Daily Express.

Klopp is seen as the number one target for Germany should under pressure Joachim Low lead them to a disappointing Euros.

And Liverpool's owners are said to be lining up former Reds midfielder Gerrard to step into the managerial hotseat.

The speculation has seen Gerrard fall as short as 13/8 with SkyBet to be next Liverpool manager, with Pep Ljinders 5/2.

Paddy Power, meanwhile, still have Ljinders the favourite at 6/4, with Gerrard a 5/2 shot.

Other former Reds priced up include Didi Hamann (100/1), Robbie Fowler (150/1), Jamie Carragher (175/1) and Phil Thompson (250/1)!

De Gea away for derby day?

SOCCER: David de Gea is a major doubt for Manchester United's derby with Manchester City at the weekend, according to The Sun.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that De Gea missed the bore draw against Crystal Palace due to a "personal matter" and he is not sure how long it will take to resolve.
This is all good news for his replacement Dean Henderson who on the back of his clean sheet against Palace is strengthening his chances of making the England squad for the summer Euros.

Henderson is now as short as 1/8 with Sky Bet to make Gareth Southgate's squad and it now looks a tall order for anyone to usurp Henderson, Nick Pope (1/10) and Jordan Pickford (1/10) from the three keeper berths.

If anyone is to do that, Southampton's Alex McCarthy is seen as the most likely at 7/2.
