Diego Simeone committed to seeing things through at La Liga side Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has no intention of leaving the La Liga club despite their unexpected Champions League group stage exit.

Los Rojiblancos crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage for the first time since 2018 after drawing 2-2 at home to Bayer Leverkusen last week to currently sit third in the group standings.
On Tuesday night, Atletico travel to face Porto in their last Group B match of the Champions League with the Portuguese side chasing the victory to try and win the group ahead of Club Brugge.
Despite this disappointment, Simeone is determined to get things back on track at Atletico as he prepared the side for the challenges of Europa League and La Liga in 2023.
In an interview with Diario AS, the Argentinian coach hinted that he still wants to win another major trophy with Atletico.
"My dream is to continue working at this club and to be back in the Champions League next season," Simeone told Diario AS.
"We're out of Champions League, and that hurts. It annoys me because of the responsibility we have to the fans.
"We have to be together, and strong, and show what we feel on the field, and not with words," he added.
In their next La Liga match, Atletico host Espanyol on Sunday afternoon.
