David Silva: Only Arsenal can challenge 'almost unstoppable' Manchester City

David Silva believes only Arsenal are capable of beating Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

As a former City playmaker, Silva enjoys immense popularity among City fans, as he played a pivotal role in securing their inaugural Premier League title in 2012.

During his illustrious career at the club, the Spaniard participated in more than 400 matches, securing four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and five League Cups.

Unfortunately, the 37-year-old had to retire this summer due to a knee injury. Asked about Manchester City, Silva stated that the Sky Blues will maintain their dominance in English football for the foreseeable future.

"They [City] have an amazing team with some amazing players," Silva told The Mirror.

"This is Pep's eighth season at City. The first year he was getting used to the Premier League, but now they are almost unstoppable."

However, Silva believes that Arsenal are the sole team with a genuine chance to challenge the current champions.

"Arsenal are the only team I can see who maybe have a chance of challenging City," he added. "The rest? I don't think they can.

"I watched nearly all of City's games in the Champions League last season, I couldn't win it when I was there, but I'm so happy for the club that they were finally able to do it.

"They deserve it. The club deserves it, the supporters deserve to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup - the Treble. It was an amazing achievement."
