Ronaldo pushing for a Manchester City move but odds are stacked against him

Juventus remain odds-on favourites to hang on to the Portuguese legend despite the striker's agent sounding out Pep's men and Paris Saint-Germain.

The summer of 2021 will be forever remembered for transfer sagas involving the world's top stars, with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane all hogging the headlines.

So far only Messi has moved but is long-standing rival Ronaldo close to finding a new club too - and even, perhaps, joining him at Paris Saint-Germain?

Messi sealed a shock switch to PSG earlier this summer after leaving Barcelona, but Ronaldo is also looking to move and his other potential destination is even more controversial.

Even though there are just a few days left of the transfer window, Ronaldo is eager to move on from Juventus and the two teams being targeted by his agent Jorge Mendes are PSG and Manchester City.

Despite the possible departure of Kylian Mbappe, PSG have made it clear they do not want to make a move for Ronaldo - denying fans the world over the dream of the two GOAT contenders in tandem.

That leaves Premier League champions City. Could they do the unthinkable and sign the Manchester United legend? Well, he for one is certainly open to the idea.

We are hearing mixed views on whether City want him, though, and, more importantly, whether Juventus are willing to do a deal.

Bookmakers are not convinced, despite Ronaldo angling for the move. Planet Sport Bet make it 4/7 that Ronaldo will stay in Turin and that looks the likely outcome. It is a probability of over 60%.

Should Ronaldo be allowed to leave, then Man City are favourites to land him at 5/2, with PSG 9/2.

But having missed out on Harry Kane, who confirmed earlier this week that he would not be staying at Tottenham, it would be a strange transfer window indeed if City are to end it without having addressed their pressing need for a striker.
