Burnley v Oxford United: Predictions, tips and bet builder as boring Clarets look to end goal diet

Burnley will be looking to put on a rare show for their fans when the Clarets welcome in-form Oxford United to Turf Moor this Tuesday night (1945 GMT).
Imagine buying a season ticket for Burnley. You literally sit there watching the world go by while nothing happens.
Scott Parker’s side have produced a total of 10 goalless draws in the Championship this season – with three of them coming in their last four games.
Before the stadium staff at Turf Moor start handing pillows and blankets, Burnley will have to start becoming more aggressive in their pursuit of goals. That starts this Tuesday night against a plucky Oxford side.
Here, we take a closer look at the fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.
Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Burnley to win to nil
The temptation to back a goalless draw is strong. It gets stronger when you see the current odds at 8/1. But surely a team battling for promotion wouldn’t go four games in five without scoring or conceding a goal? Would they?
Burnley is scoring is far more likely than conceding. The Clarets have only conceded nine goals this entire Championship season and have kept eight straight clean sheets in the competition.
It’s been over 11 hours of football since Parker’s men last conceded which took place before Christmas in a 2-1 win over Watford.
The one result squashed in the middle of their recent goalless escapades is a 5-0 thrashing of Plymouth. While the opposition was weak, the result does prove that there are goals hiding in that Burnley side. With that in mind, we’re backing the hosts to win to nil.
Under 2.5 goals
While we are favouring Burnley to end their goalless run, it doesn’t mean we’re getting carried away.
We’re still expecting few goals and few chances at Turf Moor and Parker’s men look to continue their fine defensive run.
Oxford are in the midst of great form having gone nine matches unbeaten in the league. But let’s be honest, scoring past Burnley would require a truly special Oxford performance.
Under 9.5 corners
Burnley’s last five matches have all seen under 9.5 corners – even their thrashing of Plymouth.
Parker’s last three matches have seen his side record six corners in each game. With such consistent low numbers, this is a good addition to our bet builder.
Oxford most bookings
We’re not really selling Burnley in this preview, are we. Not many goals, not many chances, not many corners. Not a lot of anything.
This trend continue when you look at bookings. Burnley have received five yellow cards across their last five matches.
With Burnley’s solid recent disciplinary record, we’re backing Oxford to go into the referee’s book first.
