Newcastle United’s pursuit of Champions League qualification continues this Sunday when the Magpies travel to the south coast for a meeting with Brighton (1400 GMT).

Eddie Howe’s men got a taste of top-flight European football last season, rubbing shoulders with AC Milan, PSG and Borussia Dortmund.

Balancing continental duties with league form proved tricky that year and it ultimately saw the Magpies miss out on continental qualification. Fortunately for the success starved fans, a return to the elite appears to be just around the corner.

With just four Premier League games remaining, Newcastle find themselves right in the thick of the top five race.

Before the weekend, just four points separated third-placed Man City and sixth-placed Nottingham Forest, with Newcastle jammed right in the middle of that pack.

As long as the Magpies finish the season strong, there’s not much that can stop them from securing their ticket to the biggest competition in football.

One team looking to throw a spanner in Newcastle’s works is Brighton. The Seagulls snapped their six-match winless run across all competitions when they came back from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 last time out and look reinvigorated.

If not for their Easter sump – which saw Brighton pick up two points from five Premier League games – Fabian Hurzeler’s side could’ve been in the thick of the top five battle alongside their upcoming opponents.

Despite tripping up, there is no denying that Hurzeler has enjoyed a sterling season with the Seagulls. The club are still in contention for a Europa Conference League spot but that will have to be earned considering their tough set of upcoming fixtures.

That set starts on home soil as Brighton welcome a high-flying Newcastle side to the Amex.

Here we pick out some of our best tips for this juicy Saturday meeting, and if you put it into a Betway bet builder you’ll get odds of around 6/1.

Having won seven of their last eight matches across all competitions, it’s hard to go against Newcastle at the moment.

The Magpies are absolutely flying under Eddie Howe, with top-flight European ambitions driving them forwards.

As well as winning games, Newcastle are scoring goals for fun. Howe’s men have scored 16 goals across their last five games, including three against Ipswich last time out.

While Brighton managed to end their winless spell last weekend, it did come against a poor West Ham side.

Newcastle will provide a far tougher challenge, and we’re backing the visitors to come away with all three points.

Just like the Magpies, Brighton have scored their fair share of goals in recent weeks. Seven in their last three matches to be precise. With that in mind, we’re throwing BTTS into our acca.

Our last addition concerns Newcastle forward Alexader Isak. The Swede has enjoyed a tremendous season, with his form showing no sign of stopping.

Isak has four goal contributions to his name in six games since the last international break. We’re backing the big forward to bump those numbers up away in Brighton.
