Less than one week on from Brighton’s 2-1 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup, the two teams are set for another dance in the Premier League (Friday, 2000 GMT).

If you ask Chelsea fans whether they’d prefer to beat Brighton in FA Cup or the Premier League, the answer would be unanimous.

The Blues are chasing a top four finish and Champions League qualification but are likely to face pressure from the likes of Man City, Newcastle and Aston Villa as the season goes on. They need every point they can get their hands on.

However, beating the Seagulls is far easier said than done. As proved in the cup tie last week. Fabian Hurzeler’s side are on a mixed run of results and it’s hard to know what you’re going to get from them.

Here, we take a closer look at the fixture and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

    Brighton v Chelsea bet builder

    Chelsea to win – 5/4

Both teams to score – 4/9

    Over 2.5 goals – 8/15

    Under 62.5 booking points – 1/2

    Chelsea to win

Cole Palmer bagged four first-half goals when these two teams last met in the Premier League. The English international couldn’t replicate his heroics in the FA Cup clash last week – in fact, Chelsea were just generally very flat.

The Blues are struggling to find consistency at the moment, regularly rotating between wins, defeats and draws.

Enzo Maresca’s men tend to bounce back from poor results and we’re backing them to do just that on Friday night.

Brighton have a poor recent home record in the Premier League, going five matches without a win.

    Both teams to score

While we are favouring Chelsea, this should be a close encounter. The previous four meeting have all seen both teams get on the scoresheet and we’re not expecting that to change.

Chelsea have scored at least one goal in their last seven outings, while Brighton have found the back of the net in six of their last eight.

    Over 2.5 goals

Speaking of goals, Brighton’s recent encounters have certainly seen a lot of them. In fact, there’s been a total of 27 goals across their last eight matches.

A large chunk of that total was from their 7-0 spanking at the hands of Nottingham Forest, but that doesn’t change the fact that Brighton’s games are a goal magnet.

The same goes for the Blues. There’s been 23 goals across Chelsea’s last six games – that’s an average of 3.8 per game.

    Under 62.5 booking points

A total of 62.5 booking points means this match would need to produce at least seven yellow cards.

While this fixture has produced some high booking points over the years, last weekend’s FA Cup was a bit tame from that perspective.

With that in mind, we’re going with the unders market in this one.
