Brentford could unleash Mikkel Damsgaard for Manchester United clash

Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted that his new signing Mikkel Damsgaard may not be fit enough to start, but could make an impact off the bench against Man United this weekend.

The 22-year-old is expected to be included in the matchday squad and could be in line for a short debut.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the Brentford manager said: "I'm definitely considering him for the squad tomorrow. We believe in him so we should get him involved.

"He hasn't played or trained with the team for the last 10 days. That's not to say he can't play 10, 15, or 20 minutes at a good level for this game."

He added: "He is not ready to start. He had an absolutely perfect medical with nothing to worry about."
The player signed a five-year deal with the club after joining from Serie A side Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee.
Damsgaard is best known for his performances at the delayed Euro 2020 as he helped Denmark reach the semi-final.
The attacking midfielder scored a screamer against England at Wembley, but ultimately faced defeat as the Three Lions progressed to the final.
Damsgaard came through the ranks at FC Nordsjaelland where he played 93 games across all competitions.
A move to Sampdoria soon followed, with the player racking up 35 Serie A appearances in his first season.
His second campaign with the Italian side was disrupted by injuries, but that wasn't enough to discourage Brentford from splashing around £10million on his signature.
