Bournemouth v Brentford: Predictions, tips and bet builder as Cherries hunt continental football

Francisco Evanilson of Bournemouth

Bournemouth will be looking to shake off their recent dip in form and reignite their European ambitions when they welcome Brentford to the Vitality Stadium (1730 GMT).

Andoni Iraola has done a sterling job at Bournemouth but with 10 games still to go, the Spaniard has a realistic chance of becoming a club legend.

Throughout their history, the Cherries have never competed in Europe and doing so – just a few years on from breaking into the top-flight for the very first time – would highlight an astounding rate of progress.

Iraola’s men enter the weekend in ninth place but only three points adrift of fifth-placed Manchester City. In fact, Bournemouth are only five points away from fourth-placed Chelsea. You read that right… top four.

Of course, there’s still a lot of work between now and the end of the season. Nothing underlines that more than Bournemouth’s recent form which hasn’t been all that rosy.

One team looking to take advantage are mid-table Brentford. The Bees are enjoying a solid season by their standards and will be looking for their fourth win in five games over the Cherries.

Here, we take a closer look at Saturday’s encounter and pick out some of the best bets along the way.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Under 12.5 corners – 8/15

Both teams to score

We’re no sure what the Sky Sports bosses were thinking when selecting this game for the coveted Saturday night slot. But you know what they say about judging books by their covers.

Recent encounters between Bournemouth and Brentford have been semi-entertaining, with 12 goals landing across the last three meetings alone.

All those three games saw both teams find the back of the net and we’re backing that trend to continue.

Over 3.5 goals

Two of the previous three meetings also produced over 3.5 goals, including the most recent encounter which saw Brentford claim a 3-2 win.

Bournemouth have seen this bet land in five of their last 10 matches across all competitions. This includes their 2-2 draw with Tottenham last week.

Two of Brentford’s previous four away games also crossed that threshold, including their recent 4-0 demolition of Leicester City.

Goals in both halves

Sticking with the goal theme, we’re backing the net to rattle in both halves of this game.

We know how well-matched these two teams are, and we also know both their games have produced a bucket load of goals.

Under 12.5 corners

Realistically speaking, this isn’t going to be a fixture dominated by one team. On the contrary, this is expected to be as close as it gets.

Their last four head-to-head encounters have all seen under 12.5 corners and we’re backing that trend to continue.
