Bournemouth will be looking to seal a historic Premier League season double over Manchester United when the Cherries welcome their struggling opponents to the Vitality stadium this Sunday (1400 GMT).

No fixture in the Premier League does a better job of illustrating Man United’s recent fall than this one.

Between 2015 and mid-2023, Bournemouth was seen as an easy three points for the Red Devils, who won nine of 12 meetings during those years.

Since then, the Cherries have gone on a three-match unbeaten run against United, picking up successive 3-0 victories at Old Trafford along the way. A truly remarkable statistic.

One of those thrashings was dished out last December as Bournemouth turned the Theatre of Dreams into a pit of nightmares for the second season in a row.

This Sunday, the Cherries will be determined to make football history as they set sights on doing their first ever season double over United. And looking at the form guides, you certainly wouldn’t put it past them.

While the Cherries are on a three-match unbeaten run, United will arrive at the Vitality on the back of successive Premier League defeats to Wolves and Newcastle. In fact, United haven’t tasted a league win since their 3-0 victory over Leicester in mid-March.

Some would say that United’s recent slump in results is down to their steely focus on the Europa League – a competition which they must win if they are to secure European football for next season.

On one hand, you can understand the thinking. Afterall, United have nothing more to gain in the Premier League apart from a bit of pride and self-respect.

Then again, with the Red Devils preparing for a potentially tricky semi-final tie with Athletic Bilbao, you’d like to think that Amorim’s men would be inclined to build some much-needed momentum.

Here we pick out some of our best tips for this juicy Sunday afternoon meeting, and if you put it into a Betway bet builder you’ll get odds of around 11/1.

Bournemouth’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace last weekend may not sound significant, but it did allow the Cherries to secure their best-ever Premier League points tally.

Andoni Iraola officially beat the record he set last season, but the current total of 49 points could still grow as the Cherries play out their final five games of the season.

A number of top clubs are already eyeing up Iraola following his terrific job on the south-coast and you wouldn’t be surprised to see the 42-year-old switch clubs over the summer.

Before he can ponder his next move, Iraola has the chance to do something really special – lead Bournemouth to their first season double of Man United.

The bookmakers are backing the hosts to win the match, with most pricing the Cherries at around the 4/6 mark. Just a few years ago, you would have never expected that.

We have no choice but to agree with the bookies. While Bournemouth are on a three-match unbeaten run, United have seemingly abandoned their Premier League goals and appear solely focused on European duties.

Bearing all that in mind, we’re backing a home win and both teams to score. BTTS landed in seven of Bournemouth’s previous nine matches and also three of United’s last four.

On top of that, we’re backing Antoine Semenyo to make 2+ fouls. No Premier League player has committed more fouls in the competition than the Bournemouth man this season – a trend which we expect to continue.

Lastly, we’re adding Harry Maguire to our bet slip. In recent times, the centre-back has caused more damage up front than all the United attackers combined. Maguire is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to set-pieces and we’re backing him to have 1+ shots at the Vitality.
