Borussia Monchengladbach coach Daniel Farke criticizes team's mistakes in defeat to Mainz 05

Borussia Monchengladbach suffered a painful defeat against Mainz 05 in their Bundesliga clash at Mewa Arena, leaving coach Daniel Farke disappointed with his team's performance.

"We have to be critical of ourselves after a 4-0 defeat. We made too many mistakes today. We dominated the game early on, had a lot of possession and two big chances. Mainz, on the other hand, scored out of nothing," Farke said, reflecting on the match.
The Foals started strong, but it was Mainz who took the lead with Jae-sung Lee's goal in the 25th minute. Marcus Ingvartsen added another goal just four minutes after the restart, putting the game out of reach for Gladbach.
Despite having golden opportunities to score, the Foals failed to capitalize, and Mainz's Ludovic Ajorque and Nelson Weiper scored two more goals to make it a 4-0 defeat for the visitors.
"We didn't show the desire to press immediately after losing the ball and set the tone with the right body language. Those are the things that can swing a tight game your way," Farke said, criticizing his team's lack of urgency.
The defeat was a missed opportunity for Gladbach, who were looking to build on their 3-2 win over Bayern Munich in their previous Bundesliga match. However, Mainz's fine form during the Carnival season proved too much for the Foals to handle.
"I am disappointed with the result, but we have to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger," Farke concluded.
