Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus set to stay for another year - report

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund are set to keep hold of their captain, Marco Reus, for another year, according to a Bild report.

The 33-year-old has reportedly agreed to a contract extension until 2024, pending official confirmation. However, in return for staying, Reus is expected to take a significant pay cut, earning just over half of his previous income per year.
Despite scoring eight goals in competitive matches this season and assisting seven, Reus has had some disappointing performances, notably in the team's losses against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and RB Leipzig in the DFB Cup. In their recent game against Union Berlin on Saturday, he was substituted in the 74th minute, contributing to the team's 2-1 victory.
Reus, who was born in Dortmund, played for BVB's youth team from 1995 to 2005. After spells with Rot Weiss Ahlen and Borussia Monchengladbach, he returned to Dortmund in 2012 and has been a consistent player since then.
