Borussia Dortmund interested in rising Manchester City star

Borussia Dortmund could be poised to make a sensational swoop for Manchester City’s rising star Cole Palmer.

German tabloid Bild is reporting that Dortmund have long been interested in signing the 21-year-old and now have money available following the transfer of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Palmer has not featured prominently for the Premier League side recently, but has made 38 career appearances for the Etihad outfit having risen through the youth ranks.

A move to Germany could potentially be of interest as Dortmund have a history of developing talented young players, while Palmer is looking to boost his playing time to aid his career development.

Palmer's versatility would also be of interest - he has been used by City manager Pep Guardiola as an attacking midfielder, on the wing, and as a number eight.

He has three years remaining on his contract and thus would command a reasonable fee, while Dortmund are not lacking in attacking options.

However, they do need to strengthen following Bellingham's move as well as just missing out on winning the Bundesliga last term, being pipped by Bayern Munich on goal difference.

A two-year loan move has also been cited by Bild as a possibility.
