Borussia Dortmund in crisis: Edin Terzic under fire as players seek change

In the heart of Dortmund, a storm is brewing as BVB's head coach, Edin Terzic, faces increasing scrutiny from both fans and players.

The team's recent performances, with just one victory in the last seven league games, falls far short of the expectations set by last year's almost-champions. Sky Sport inside sources reveal that doubts are mounting within the squad, prompting players to confront the coach directly about the ongoing issues.

Terzic, a devoted Borussia Dortmund man, found solace on Sunday at the Christmas singing event in the Dortmund stadium, where he stood on stage alongside captain Emre Can. Despite the emotional connection with the 73,065 fans, Terzic remained tight-lipped about the team's sporting situation when approached for interviews, maintaining his focus on the positive energy from the supporters. However, the 41-year-old coach is well aware of the criticism swirling around him.

As Terzic faces criticism, even from some of the club's own supporters, the upcoming Bundesliga match against Mainz on Tuesday night becomes pivotal. A win in this final game of the year is seen as a necessity for Terzic to avoid a more uncomfortable winter break.

BVB's recent struggles include just one league victory in the last seven games under Terzic's leadership. The gap to secure fourth place, guaranteeing Champions League qualification, has widened, prompting discussions about the coach's role, as highlighted by football pundit Matthaus.

Inside sources from Sky reveal that faith in Terzic's ability to turn things around is diminishing among players. After a disappointing exit from the cup against Stuttgart two weeks ago, an interesting incident unfolded. The team's leadership reportedly expressed a desire for tactical changes to Terzic, with some players sensing that the coach was reluctant to make adjustments against his will. Former player Dietmar Hamann criticized BVB stars, pointing out a need for a change in approach.

"We wanted to press higher in the last few games; the attitude has changed," remarked Gregor Kobel after the 1-1 draw in Augsburg. Julian Brandt added, "We were more passive in previous games; this time, it was more active. I think it's good that it's more active again; it suits the team better."

Allegedly, a few key players have conveyed reservations to club boss Hans-Joachim Watzke, suggesting that continued collaboration with Terzic would not be productive. Watzke, however, denies these claims upon inquiry.
