Bookies have their say on Newcastle moves for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe

Summer switches rated more likely, with Tarkowski and Lingard thought to be among the Magpies' January targets.

Newcastle United are ready to spend big in 2022, but their list of targets in January and the summer could be very different.

Some of the world's biggest names are set to move next year, and arguably the two biggest and most exciting names are Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.

Will Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland move to Newcastle?

Mbappe is expected to leave on a free transfer, and he is able to sign a pre-contract with a club in January - and it is believed that Real Madrid are at the head of the queue.

But could Newcastle and their millions get involved? Well it is clear not beyond the realms of fantasy and Betfair make them just 12/1 to pull off what would be one of the biggest transfer coups in soccer history. If you think they could persuade Paris Saint-Germain to do a deal in January, then you are looking at 35/1.

If not Mbappe, then could Newcastle be tempted by Erling Haaland? The Norwegian megastar has a clause that allows him to leave in 2022. That means he will be available for less than £80million - a sum which will be well within the grasp of the club's new billionaire owners.

Erling Haaland Borussia Dortmund celebration Sep21

If you believe that they could close a deal for the Borussia Dortmund sensation in January it is 50/1, but that drops to 16/1 in the summer.

Newcastle are being linked with a host of names in January and some of them look a lot more plausible than the likes of Mbappe and Neymar.

Which British players could join Newcastle?

Burnley's England defender James Tarkowski is actually favourite to make the move at 3/1, while another England man, Jesse Lingard, is just 9/1 to make the switch from Manchester United.

Aaron Ramsey Wales Oct21

Juventus' Welsh star Aaron Ramsey is being strongly linked with a move away from Serie A and Newcastle could very well be a destination for him - he is just 10/1.

Former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is also just 10/1 to move to the north-east in the new year, with his time at Barcelona looking like coming to an end.
