Bayern Munich move ahead in race to land £26m Tottenham target

Nagelsmann lined up as Flick successor despite Spurs interest, while Chelsea willing to meet Varane valuation.

SOCCER: Bayern Munich looked to have moved ahead of Tottenham in the race to appoint RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann as their new coach.
Nagelsmann was an early favourite to replace Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
However, the German giants, who look set to lose Hansi Flick in the summer, have declared their interest in the 33-year-old.

And according to Goal, they have been quoted a fee of £26million to prise him away from the Red Bull Arena.

The fee would be the biggest ever in the sport for a coach.

The news has seen Nagelsmann drift to 5/1 with Sky Bet to become the next Tottenham boss.

Former Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri is now the new favourite at 5/2 despite being linked with a switch to Roma.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is 6/1.

Interestingly, this has seen Wolves move into 6/1 favourites as the next destination for Mourinho.

Chelsea willing to pay £61m for Varane

SOCCER: Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claim Chelsea have jumped ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Real Madrid's Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman is reported to be set to push for a move away at the end of the season.

United and Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs interested in signing Varane.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea now lead the race, at the request of head coach Thomas Tuchel.

And the Blues are reportedly willing to pay the £61million it will take to land him.

Chelsea and United are 3/1 joint favourites with Sky Bet to sign the 28-year-old in the summer.

However, for now Varane says he is '100 per cent committed' to the La Liga club.
Ahead of the Champions League meeting with Chelsea, he said: My future is clear: my focus is on the end of the season.
Pressed on whether he would extend his contract beyond the end of next season, the defender added: 'It is normal that my focus is on the end of the season.
'The message to the fans is that I am 100 per cent committed to the team."

Real Madrid are 4/5 with Paddy Power to progress to the Champions League final, with Chelsea evens.

Varane is 16/1 to score at any time during Tuesday night's first-leg clash.

Everton favour Aarons over Trippier

SOCCER: Everton have reportedly been offered the chance to sign experienced right-back Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid.

However, the Toffees see Norwich City defender Max Aarons as a better long-term investment according to the Daily Mail.

Trippier, capped 26 times by England, looks set for a Premier League return despite signing a three-year deal with the La Liga side in 2019.

However, despite a £30million price tag being slapped on Aarons, Everton are leaning towards the Championship star.
They are hoping he can follow the success of Ben Godfrey who joined from the Carrow Road Club last summer.
Godfrey is also a good friend of Aarons, which Everton hope will ease the 21-year-old's switch to Merseyside.

Everton are 6/4 favourites with Sky Bet to land Aarons in the summer, with Manchester United 7/4.
