Bayern Munich complete signing of Liverpool striker Sadio Mane

German champions Bayern Munich have officially completed the signing of Liverpool striker Sadio Mane in a deal worth £35.1million.

Mane spent six successful years at Anfield as he helped Jurgen Klopp's side to six different trophies - including the Champions League and the club's first Premier League title in three decades.

The Senegal international had just 12 months remaining on his Liverpool contract, but instead of extending his stay at Merseyside, the player will now join Bayern on a lucrative three-year deal.

Upon signing for the Bavarians, Mane told the club's website: "I'm really happy to finally be at FC Bayern in Munich. We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts.

"It's the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, in Europe too. During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games - I really like this club!"
Former Bayern goalkeeper, now turned club CEO, Oliver Khan, added: "We are delighted that we've been able to recruit Sadio Mané for FC Bayern.
"With his outstanding performances and his great successes at the highest international level over many years, there are very few players like him in the world.

"We're sure that Sadio Mane will delight our fans in the coming years with his spectacular style of play. He's ambitious and eager to win more titles. This package is very strong. With players like him at FC Bayern, all the biggest goals are possible."

In 269 games for Liverpool, Mane scored 120 goals and produced 38 assists. The player was part of a formidable attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Since Mane indicated he wanted to leave Merseyside, the Champions League finalists acted quickly in finding a replacement and splashed over £80million on Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
