Bayern Munich are considering parting ways with Eric Dier

Bayern Munich's envisioned reunion of Harry Kane and Eric Dier might be short-lived, as the Bundesliga side contemplate parting ways with the English defender this summer.

According to a recent Sport Bild report, Bayern are harbouring serious reservations about Dier's suitability, specifically citing concern about his lack of pace — a quality deemed crucial for success in the Bundesliga.

Despite securing Dier on loan from Tottenham in January, with an option to extend the loan by another 12 months, recent indications suggest that Dier could be making a swift return to north London.

Dier's stint at Bayern has been restricted to a mere five appearances, with only three of those as starts. However, Thomas Tuchel's side have encountered significant challenges, suffering defeats in their last two Bundesliga fixtures and facing adversity in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie against Lazio — with Dier relegated to the bench.

Should Dier make a return to Tottenham, the likelihood of the club seeking a summer sale is high. Under Ange Postecoglou's management, Dier's playing time has been sparse, earning just one Premier League start during a 2-1 loss to Wolves. The summer signing of Micky van de Ven and the January addition of Radu Dragusin have pushed Dier down the pecking order.

If the reports hold true, Dier's agent might already be exploring potential summer moves, with Dier eager to feature in Bayern's upcoming clash against RB Leipzig this Saturday.

With Euro 2024 looming, Dier's hopes of securing a regular starting spot at Bayern appear dashed, raising questions about his future, especially since parent club Tottenham Hotspur currently has no role for him.
