Barcelona transfer news: Liverpool star Roberto Firmino on brink of summer move to La Liga

Having won almost every trophy under the sun, Roberto Firmino is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Question is, who will snap up the Brazilian forward?

Roberto Firmino has been one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp's teamsheet since he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015.

From his very first season at the club, he earned a reputation as one of the best 'false nine' players in world football.

Due to Liverpool's recent acquisition of Cody Gakpo, however, Firmino is set to leave Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

With the player no longer a regular starter at Anfield, it's no surpirse he is looking for a fresh start at a different club.

However, the German manager has stated that, if it was up to him, he would keep the 31-year-old within his ranks.

According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona have agreed a transfer for Firmino which will see him join the club on a free.

This is despite the Spanish giants finding themselves in financial turmoil of late.

The La Liga leaders seem to be following the same trend which they set last summer, attempting to sign the best players who are avaliable on a free transfer each season.

The Brazilian has spent the majority of his career at Liverpool, forging his way as a cult hero due to his stellar performances.
His time at Anfield will largely be remembered as part of the formidable trio of Sadio Mane, Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
The attacker is hitting the peak of his career and will look to add an extra layer of attack to Xavi's side.
With Barca looking to offload multiple players such as Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati and Raphinha, it is no surprise that Xavi is looking to bolster his attack.

The Spanish side must try and get around £170million off their wage bill this summer in order to abide by financial fair play.

Firmino would be an ideal candidate to join the side as he already has a vast amount of European experience following his achievements at Liverpool.

This is a key factor for Barcelona's recruitment this season as they look to win their first European trophy since they lifted the Champions League during the 2015/16 season.
