Barcelona to gain financial compensation for Pedri, Araujo injuries

Concerns about player injuries have dominated the news in Catalonia's capital over the last 48 hours.

First, Pedri suffered a knee injury during Spain's Euro 2024 quarter-final win over hosts Germany.

Then, less than 24 hours later, the Blaugrana faced another setback as Ronald Araujo was forced to withdraw from Uruguay's Copa América match against Brazil.

Both players are now expected to be sidelined, with Pedri out for up to six weeks and Araujo for eight, according to reports.

Due to these injuries, Barcelona will receive financial compensation.

In Pedri's case, the compensation will come from UEFA, while Araujo's will be paid by FIFA through CONMEBOL.

According to MD, the compensation breakdown is as follows:

"The coverage provides compensation based on the player's fixed salary to football clubs if footballers playing in this Euro Cup are injured for more than 28 consecutive days due to bodily injury caused by an accident during match operations."

The maximum compensation can reach €20,548 per day.

For example, if Pedri misses six weeks, Barca would receive around two weeks' worth of compensation.

If Araujo is out for eight weeks, Barcelona would receive an additional four weeks of payments from CONMEBOL.
